Marketing Intern
The Discovery Museums seek an intern to assist the Marketing department with day-to-day activities. This position will provide hands-on, real-world experience in the areas of non-profit public relations, promotions, advertising, collateral, project management, research, sponsorship and website maintenance. Specific responsibilities include: assist with development and distribution of weekly media alerts and special events press releases; manage in-house and outsourced print projects; develop and edit website content; conduct web research; organize media lists; develop forms, coupons, advertisements and marketing collateral pieces as needed; coordinate promotional activities; miscellaneous office duties; assist with special events and projects as needed. Depending upon skill set, other possible projects include: photograph special events; develop the Museums' YouTube channel and Flickr site; shoot and/or edit Flip video for web posting. Skills required: interest in marketing and public relations; strong writing skills; effective project management skills essential; ability to multi-task essential; attention to detail; excellent communication skills; initiative, drive, common sense, creative flair and flexibility; strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Photoshop a plus but not required.
