Collections Intern for Deaccessioning Project
The Jamaica Plain Tuesday Club is seeking a collections intern to assist with a deaccessioning project, the end result of which would be a plan recommending the ethical disposition of objects in the collection. Skills needed for this position include knowledge of internet research, the database PastPerfect, and the laws governing disposal of unclaimed property in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Excellent communication and organization skills are required. All above duties will occur at the Loring-Greenough House, 12 South Street in Boston's neighborhood of Jamaica Plain, accessible by car, the 39 or 41 buses, or the Green Street stop on the Orange Line. All work will take place on either weeknights or weekends through the fall semester. Interns must have previous object handling experience and be enrolled in either a history or museum studies masters degree program.
