2014 Susquehanna Museum at the Lock House Marketing/Grant Writing Internship
The Susquehanna Museum at the Lock House in Havre de Grace, Maryland is offering a museum marketing internship opportunity for the summer of 2014. Duties include but are not limited to designing advertisements for the museum, determining unknown areas of advertising, creating and maintaining a museum blog, and maintaining and expanding social media platforms. The intern will also assist the Executive Director in identifying and applying for grants.
-Excellent written skills
-Ability to use Microsoft Word and Adobe Photoshop
This opportunity is well suited for students studying business, marketing, communications, or museum studies. The ability to use Adobe Dream Weaver is not required, but would be helpful.

The internship is non-paid, but the Susquehanna Museum is willing to arrange credit with the student’s home institution. The internship is a minimum of 10 hours per week. At least one day a week must be at the museum, the rest the student can work from home if they desire.
About the Susquehanna Museum at the Lock House:
The Susquehanna and Tidewater Canal was built between 1836 and 1840. The 45 miles of canal ran from Havre de Grace, Maryland to Wrightsville, Pennsylvania. The Lock House was built in 1840, serving as home for the Lock Tender and office for the Toll Collector. Measuring 30 feet deep and 37 feet long, it was nearly twice the size of the other lock houses on the canal. On the museum’s grounds are the house, a portion of the canal and lock, a pivot bridge, and a nature trail.
