Volunteer opportunity: Front-of-House Volunteers (Summer) at Benjamin Franklin House, London

Benjamin Franklin House is the world's only remaining Franklin home. For nearly sixteen years between 1757 and 1775, Dr Benjamin Franklin – scientist, diplomat, philosopher, inventor, Founding Father of the United States and more – lived here at 36 Craven Street, London, England. We are looking to appoint front-of-house volunteers to help us with the smooth running of our Grade I listed Georgian museum for one day per week over the summer months.

These roles are particularly suited to individuals with a strong interest in the museums/heritage sector. Our volunteers are the public face of Benjamin Franklin House - from running our Box Office and Shop to leading tours of the House for our visitors. Our volunteers also assist the House Management Team on a variety of special assignments, from marketing to the organisation of educational events.

Students or graduates in a subject related to Franklin and the House such as history, cultural heritage, politics or science, who are looking to volunteer during their summer break, are particularly encouraged to apply.

We have openings most days of the week including weekend days, and these positions are available to start immediately, so applications will be considered on a first-come-first-served basis. We ask for a minimum commitment of 3 months in the first instance.

Please note our summer volunteers will have the opportunity to assist with Open House London weekend on 20/21 September, when Benjamin Franklin House and hundreds of other historic and contempary buildings, public spaces and more open their doors for free. Please indicate in your application whether assisting in this event would be of interest.

To apply, please send your CV and cover letter to House Education Manager Stephen Wilson at
