Marketing Volunteer

BFHouse

Benjamin Franklin House is the world's only remaining home of Dr Benjamin Franklin – scientist, diplomat, philosopher, inventor, Founding Father of the United States and more. Franklin lived in the House for nearly sixteen years between 1757 and 1775. Today, 36 Craven Street, London, England, is a small historic house and educational facility. We are looking to appoint a dedicated volunteer to assist with the marketing of our public and education events and activities, with all the associated challenges of working with for a small museum with limited budget.

The volunteer works with our Front of House & Marketing Supervisor on a number of projects related to marketing over 2-3 days per week (from Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) for a minimum of 3 months in the first instance. Please ask about our travel expenses reimbursement policy.

Volunteer tasks include:

o        Supervise the box office/shop areas.

o        Independently deliver architectural tours of the House.

o        Prepare and run the Historical Experience.

o        Assist with larger group visits to the House.

o        Encourage and collect visitor feedback.

o        Market the Historical Experience to national and international visitors.

o        Develop marketing materials and assist with promotional events.

This role is particularly suited to an individual with a strong interest in the marketing of public and education events and activities within the charity and heritage industry specifically. Students or graduates in a subject related to Franklin and the House such as history, cultural heritage, politics or science are particularly encouraged to apply.

To apply, please send your CV and a covering letter to House Education Manager Stephen Wilson at education@benjaminfranklinhouse.org. In your covering letter, please advise when you would be available to start.

Deadline for applications is 5pm, Monday 28th July 2014.
