Girl Museum is seeking an eCommerce/museum store intern to help us convert to a new platform and develop marketing strategies for our virtual store. You will work directly with our Program Developer to populate our new store with original merchandise, update our website to reflect our new store, and develop social media marketing strategies to promote our products. You may also be given the opportunity to advise on new types of products to be developed and strategic planning for the future expansion of our ecommerce platform.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with transitioning our store platform.

    • Provide feedback on pricing structure for custom-designed artworks.

    • Provide feedback on types of products to stock and with which designs.

  • Update Girl Museum website to reflect new store.

  • Develop social media marketing posts and/or strategies to promote our store and products to new audiences.

  • Intern may also be granted the opportunity to contribute to our blog, upcoming exhibits, or programs, if desired.

We are hoping to launch our new store by August 15, 2018. Internship is ideal for those looking for for-credit summer internships or who are able to dedicate 10 hours or more per week during the summer months.


  • Interest in museum stores and/or marketing.

  • Have reliable access to a computer and the Internet.

  • Ability to use, or learn to use, Google Drive.

  • Creative, thoughtful, very self-motivated, trustworthy, reliable, and enthusiastic.

  • Able to work well independently and on a team.

  • Must be able to define and work to deadlines.


  • Gain practical experience in ecommerce management.

  • Flexible scheduling.

  • Be part of the world’s first and only museum dedicated to girls.

  • Help grow our museum to reach new audiences and promote female-created art.

Duration: Flexible.

Hours: 5-10 hours per week minimum. Work from home, according to your schedule, with weekly check-in email to your supervisor. Flexible hours. Accomodations are made for vacation and sick time. Intern will be given specific due dates for the project’s components.

Internship is volunteer only and not compensated.  Intern may be eligible for academic credit, with approval from your academic supervisor.

Girl Museum is the first and only museum in the world dedicated to celebrating girls and girlhood.  Established in March 2009, we believe girls are the key to a brighter, better future and that girls deserve to have a museum of their own.
