Girl Museum is seeking Video Production interns or volunteers to help us create videos and animations for our upcoming 10-year anniversary and exhibitions.  

There are a variety of video topics to be explored and produced, and interns are given great creative license to help us develop engaging content that reflects our mission. Opportunity is best suited for someone experience in all aspects of video design and production, who has access to software like iMovie (or PC equivalent). Ability to create custom animations is desired.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design clear, engaging videos for either:

    • Our 10-year anniversary in 2019

    • Upcoming exhibitions (2 videos minimum)

  • Advise on use of our YouTube channel, and ways we can plan for and develop content for the channel in the future. Opportunity to develop content is open.

  • Intern may also be granted the opportunity to contribute to our blog, upcoming exhibits, or programs, if desired.

You will be able to choose the types of videos you wish to create, and we are flexible on requirements.  You may be asked to do specific videos when there is a time-based need.


  • Proficiency in animation/illustration design (animation) and/or production.  Graduates or current students in multimedia/video production and/or digital history are encouraged to apply.

  • Have reliable access to a computer, video production software (we typically use iMovie), and the Internet.  (Girl Museum does not provide software.)

  • Ability to use, or learn to use, Google Drive.

  • Creative, thoughtful, very self-motivated, trustworthy, reliable, and enthusiastic.

  • Able to work well independently and on a team.

  • Must be able to define and work to deadlines.

  • Interested in museums, education, and/or girls’ issues desired but not required.


  • Build your portfolio of work.

  • Flexible scheduling.

  • Be part of the world’s first and only museum dedicated to girls.

  • Help grow our museum to reach new audiences and develop better programs for girls.

Duration: Flexible.

Hours: Work from home, according to your schedule, with weekly check-in email to your supervisor. Flexible hours, so long as videos are produced on the agreed timeline. Accomodations are made for final exams and/or sick and vacation time.

Internship is volunteer only and not compensated.  Intern may be eligible for academic credit, with approval from your academic supervisor.

Girl Museum is the first and only museum in the world dedicated to celebrating girls and girlhood.  Established in March 2009, we believe girls are the key to a brighter, better future and that girls deserve to have a museum of their own.
