The Atlanta History Center is looking for a highly motivated and results oriented professional to fill the role within the organization of Guest Experience Associate.

This vital position requires a warm and enthusiastic demeanor with guests and co-workers, tact and diplomacy as part of a collaborative team, adaptability in a changing work environment, willingness to learn new methods of interpretation, and flexibility to work a varied schedule, including weekends and holidays.

The guest experience associate is responsible for all activities related to Admissions and Reservations for all visitors to the Atlanta History Center and for all participants in any related programs, events or exhibits. Working at times in the Museum Gift Shop being responsible for all activities related to operation of the museum shop sales floor. We require you to providing excellent customer service and information to create the most satisfactory experience for our visitors.   

 

Responsibilities

§  Act as an ambassador of customer service by welcoming and orienting every guest in person or by phone.

§  Inform visitors and the public about the opportunities available at the Center and ascertain each visitor’s expectations for their visit at the Atlanta History Center.

§  Offer the value of membership to every visitor. Answer all questions about benefits and values.

§  Answer general questions about Atlanta and the region, our museum and exhibits, give directions, make arrangements for taxi service when requested by guests.

§  When needed, provide reception services including:

o   Take messages for staff and deliver them as necessary.

o   Welcome all administrative appointments, media representatives, and any other person whose purpose is not to visit the exhibitions, programs, and events of the History Center.

o   Operate multi-line phone system, answering all incoming lines, directing calls, and giving information as needed.

o   Direct inquiries to appropriate staff regarding donations of money, artifacts, archival materials, etc.

o   Provide and maintain all correspondence related to the RSVP hotline, handle reservations for all ticketed programs.

§  Process admission sales for individuals, group sales, school groups, or other visitors.

§  Check all exhibitions daily to ensure all interactives (low-tech and high-tech) are fully functional and presentable and communicate any issues to the appropriate staff.

§  Responsible for the upkeep of the admissions desk and other public areas which includes stocking brochures and contacting Housekeeping for daily cleaning needs.

§  Process retail museum shop sales (experience with Square a plus) and restock merchandise on a regular basis.

§  Process daily ticketing reconciliation reports close all open transactions and ensure Galaxy Ticketing Software is in balance.

§  Responsible for cash handling.

§  Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

§  Must wear uniform daily

 

 

Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements:  

§  Either currently enrolled at an accredited college or university or sufficient education to demonstrate the ability to read instructions and to perform elementary arithmetic calculations.

§  Three to five years of cashier experience or comparable experience working with the public.

§  Experience with computers and automated data entry.

§  Must be available to work weekend shifts during day time operating hours and some late nights during events.

 

Preferred Requirements:

§  Interest and experience Customer Service and hospitality.

§  Flexible schedule with Holiday availability

 

 

Background Check Requirements

·         Satisfactory criminal background check required.

·         Satisfactory financial background check required.
