Position:  Blackwater Draw Museum Collections Manager

Location: Eastern New Mexico University, Portales, NM

Eastern New Mexico University seeks applications for a full-time, permanent Blackwater Draw Museum Collections Manager. The successful candidate must be able to, under limited supervision, assist the Blackwater Draw National Historic Landmark Site Director in the operational, financial, and personnel management activities of the museum and associated collections. A Master’s degree in Museum Studies or a related discipline is required, with demonstrable knowledge and experience in collections management as well as in museum display design and development. Additionally, preference will be given to candidates with experience in the field of anthropology/archaeology. An ability to remain current in best practices for museum operations and collections management is necessary. The ideal candidate also should have experience in database management and demonstrate an ability for public speaking, public relations, and guiding tours. Work is moderately active in nature and occasionally requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force and/or moderate amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, in addition to occasionally working evenings and weekends.
